"My name is Jiaoyue Lyu. I am currently a teaching artist and doing post-graduate job at New York University (NYU). My major is Music Education with a focus on piano. At the same time, I am working hard to promote Chinese traditional music and culture. My specialties are guqin and Chinese calligraphy, two art forms that are included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

In 2010, I held the first solo guqin concert in the 110-year history of Nanjing Normal University in China, where I attended my undergraduate study. On June 2, 2014, I held my guqin solo recital Serene Moon in Carnegie Hall. Following the concert in New York press noted that “Miss Lyu is a beautifully sensitive and mesmerizing virtuoso” (IMPress, June 6, 2014).

I have been invited on numerous occasions to perform at venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, The United Nations Headquarters, The JCC in Manhattan. At the same time, I have also been invited by the Chinese Consulate in New York, US Embassy in Tokyo, 92nd Street Organization Culture Series , the Chinese Institute in New York, and Confucius Institute to perform guqin and demonstrate Chinese calligraphy.

Recently, I was invited by New York International Chinese Calligraphy Exhibition, which displayed over 200 masterpieces of 200 calligraphers from 15 countries. I was also invited to perform at The Sync Summit London Showcase followed by lecture-recitals at University of Cambridge,University of London, Imperial College London, and The London Confucius Institute in the spring of 2015.

I would welcome the opportunity to perform at the Sarasota Chalk Festival to introduce guqin about Asia's most ancient stringed instrument and Chinese Calligraphy with their vast culture and history .

I have attached three photos below, two of them are the promotional posters of my guqin recitals at Carnegie Hall and University of Cambridge. One is Chinese calligraphy demonstration at 92nd Street Organization Culture Series, invited by The Chinese Consulate New York."
