St. Petersburg artist Dee Sabean returns for her fifth year in the Sarasota Chalk Festival, the home of her very first chalk art on the street.

Dee is a self-taught and ever-learning painter, chalker, and puppet master. Her style is a mixture of realism, storytelling, and visual hyperbole. Her subject matter tends to be off-beat with bold color and contours. She has had solo exhibitions of her works and is currently represented at the Hoffman-Porges gallery in Ybor City, Tampa. Her paintings can be seen and purchased at this year’s Ice House gala.

When the artist is not painting in her studio or chalking in area festivals she and her husband, Gary Davis, are working with their creation, Giant Salvador Dali, a 12-foot tall walking puppet. Sal had the honor of representing The Dali Museum in this year’s St. Pete Gay Pride Parade with a grand win of Best In Show among the 150 floats. The trio continues to delight and amaze party goers throughout the Tampa Bay-Sarasota area.
