The Avenue of Art is expanding!

We are happy to be kicking off a PHASE 3 of the Avenue of Art that is happening now - hope you join us and paint MORE sidewalk squares. We'd love for you to be a part of our creative endeavors!

AVENUE OF ART INFORMATION

The Avenue of Art which has had resounding success, with over 200 paintings adorning the sidewalks of Burns Square, winning awards and becoming a part of the City of Sarasota Art Master Plan. Now, we're aiming to add 100 more in the next six weeks...now with $ for supplies and stipends.

Whether you're a painter, a writer, a sponsor, or someone with a passion for the arts, there's a place for you with the Avenue of Art. An example of a painted sidewalk webpage: (https://avenue-of-art.chalkfestival.org/artwork/emma-booker).

PAINTERS - Painting a sidewalk square is open to everyone of any skill level, our youngest contributor thus far being 2!

To paint a sidewalk:

Choose a subject relevant to the Sarasota County region and communicate your idea to us for approval. Such as Flora/Fauna, Sports, Theaters, People, Places, Events and so forth. All artwork must be approved and be painted with light colors using as little dark colors as possible.
Communicate the day you want to show up with your supplies. We will provide you with a $50 stipend to pay for the supplies you need. You may need paint brushes, only water based paints, tape and maybe some construction paper for your supplies to be put on.
Show up and we will work with you to pick a sidewalk square(s) for you to paint and communicate the direction it must present.
Let your creativity flow and paint the entire sidewalk square(s) being mindful of others' paintings and your surroundings by keeping everything clean and tidy.
When complete, let us know and will showcase your painting on the Avenue of Art website alongside a biography of you as an artist.
You will receive by mail another stipend for your contribution when completed between $25 to $150.

WRITERS - If writing is more your style. Simply express your interest, commit to writing a 200 to 600-word article about a painting we provide to you, and get published alongside a biography of you as an Avenue of Art writer. Stipends provided.

VOLUNTEER- Becoming an Avenue of Art volunteer is also a great way to advance the arts. If helping us restore older paintings or installing QR codes is your forte, we have opportunities for that too!

The future of the Avenue of Art is bright, with strong commitments from the City and County to expand this exhibit even further. We're excited to see paintings popping up all over Sarasota, and we want you to be a part of it.
