3D Pavement Artist

Julie Kirk-Purcell has been street painting for 19 years. Her love of the art form became an important part of her art education and a vital asset to perfecting her painting technique as she attended Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, CA, where she earned her BFA in Illustration/Fine Art. She continued her studies at CA State University Fullerton and earned an MFA in Painting, showing her oil paintings in numerous galleries. Meanwhile her street paintings branched out into more elaborate original designs and she garnered awards and private clients, in addition to teaching street painting through both the LA Music Center and Orange County Performing Arts Center.

Currently she is a tenured professor at Irvine Valley College, Irvine, CA, where she teaches painting and life drawing. She is a world-renowned street painter and has traveled extensively creating her paintings, visiting places throughout the United States, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Her clients include Disney Imagineering, Disney Entertainment and Disney Studios, as well as Universal Studios, The Howard Hughes Corporation, BankMuscat, Bloomburg LLP, Chrysler Corporation, Lexus Corporation, and the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific. Her experience as both a street painter and art professor lead to a request for her to author the first book devoted to the art form in it’s entirety, “Sidewalk Canvas”, which focuses primarily on technique and materials as well as history and leading artists in the field.

She currently resides in southern California with her husband and five children, and an assortment of horses and dogs.
